Governor-General with Br Javed Khan, President of FIANZ, mingling with members of the community.

On 16 Dec, FIANZ hosted a dinner in honour of HE The Hon Anand Satyanand, Governor-General of New Zealand and Lady Susan Satyanand in Auckland. Since this event was held in Auckland, invitation was extended mainly to the Local Associations and Trusts based in Auckland and Hamilton.
During the speech in welcoming our Governor-General and Lady Susan Satyanand, Br Javed gave a brief account of the Federation and its major role functions in catering to the Muslim community in New Zealand. Br Javed mentioned that the Muslim community should play a responsible role in nation-building so that we strengthen our social fabric and cohesion to protect against bad influence and elements infiltrating our society in any manner or form. He emphasised that "e;we always strive to make New Zealand to be a strong, healthy, peaceful, progressive and vibrant country in the world & to live in harmony with the wider New Zealand community".

By all accounts, the event was a resounding success. We are grateful to our Governor-General and Lady Suzan Satyanand for gracing the occasion.
